Sustainability
As a venture we are aware of our responsibility towards our earth.
Nowadays it is possible with one’s own means to set an example and cause an effect.
Our measures:
We obtain our energy from our partner Lichtblick. Power is produced 100% out of “green resources” thus no climate damaging CO2 is emitted.
We installed a photovoltaic construction on our company building. On sunny days this is contributing with approximately 40 kW towards the energy revolution ;-)
Besides we built our seminar building mainly out of loam due to our deep believe in the advantage over natural constructions. This is creating a special atmosphere in rooms and is not polluting our environment. We have our own sources in order to use untreated and pure water. Further, we are capable of producing our own energy due to a photovoltaic and solar heat construction as well. We produce heat with wood.
As progress originates out of small steps, we intent to walk attentively through our company and be open for new sustainable improvements.
An example for this is our recycling system for cardboard packaging. Due to our cardboard packaging shredder, we were not only able to reduce our waste-paper rubbish drastically but also we need less bubble wrap.Additionally, we use a document-management-system which is saving all tax relevant documents digitally. Hence, they partly do not have to be printed anymore. This is saving the wastage of around 120.000 pages of A4 each year.
We avoid using packaging out of synthetic material as far as possible.
For that reason we are exclusively using grease-proof paper for our own incense stick brand Holy Smokes instead of wrapping the sticks in plastic. In 2012, this lead to a retrenchment of more than 2.3 barrels of CO2 . Regarding to a bigger part of our incense stick holders and vessels, either no or barely any synthetics are used.
In 2012, our sent weight of goods consisted up to 95.27% out of natural or non-environmental damaging material such as soap stone, glass, paper, metals and wood. When taking in a new product we pay attention to purchase manufactures out of natural materials as far as possible.
Finally our catalogue is printed on FSC certified paper. FSC is a non-profit organisation campaigning for a sustainable forestry.
